Jervis Bay is a well known tourist destination on the South Coast. The area is renowned for its white sandy beaches and clear waters, accompanied by a perfect summer climate.
Recognised for its natural beauty, much of the Jervis Bay region is encompassed by National Park and features a range of walking tracks, picnic areas and coastal regions that present ideal conditions for snorkeling and scuba diving.
The Jervis Bay region mostly comprises of coastal villages and towns, as well as larger urban areas such as Sussex Inlet, Sanctuary Point and Vincentia.
Between these towns the region offers a diverse range of accommodation options, restaurants, entertainment, activities and shopping facilities.
The area has had a rich history since it was named in 1971 after the British Admiral John Jervis.
The bay was one of the areas entered by George Bass when he surveyed the South East Coast in 1797.
JervisBay is also well known for it's Australian Naval College, HMAS Creswell, which was established in 1915.
The College has a diverse historical collection available as well as a display of model sailing ships.
A ruined lighthouse on the Southern side of Jervis Bay, is another historical location that is well worth exploring.
